Join The Cavewoman Way for an underground drum circle celebrating the Autumn Equinox. Yes, we are drumming in a real cave! This gathering will also include an intimate cave tour that will allow you to wander the cave and admire millions of years of rock formations, history and herstory. The cavern is on private property in Northeast AL and includes many sections and "rooms". Participants will receive the exact address 2 weeks before the gathering.

CAVE TOUR
Prior to our drum circle, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the cave's history (and herstory), see amazing stone formations and discover the amazing underground eco-system that houses endangered and rare species. This particular cave has had many lives from ceremony site to show cave to hideout. While the walk through the cave is relatively easy, a small entrance and several steps are involved. Please read the information in the FAQs below before signing up.

DRUM CIRCLE
The cave tour will bring the group to a glorious "ritual" room with unbelievable acoustics and plenty of space for dancing and music making.
SOUND MEDITATION
Following our drum circle, there will be a period of silence and meditation for you to rest, connect with the cave, and enjoy a primal "sound bath" before we walk out together.

INVESTMENT: $65

LOCATION INFO
Our retreat will take place on private property near Fort Payne, AL. The exact address will be provided to participants in their preparation letters. These will be emailed to you at least 2 weeks prior to the retreat.

AGE LIMIT
While this is an adult only event, older teens who have attended previous Cavewoman events may be allowed if approved in advance. Please email us for additional information.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Once inside the cave, there is no crawling, squeezing or bending required. HOWEVER, the entrance to the cave requires us to bend and move through a square opening in a gate that is about 22" wide and 30" tall. Once inside, our journey through the cave is a 1-mile roundtrip walk that includes several ascending and descending steps.

WHAT TO BRING
We will email you a short list of items to bring, however the following are important: sturdy shoes and flashlight for the cave, a drum or instrument, and your own snacks for social time afterwards.

REQUIRED FOR CAVE
To enter the cave, participants must have sturdy, closed-toe and close-heel shoes with very good grips on the bottom. This is a natural wild cave and while the path is gentle, it can be slightly muddy or slippery. Sandals will NOT be allowed in the cave. We recommend hiking boots. In addition, each person will need a flashlight or headlamp.

FOOD & DRINK
No food or drink is allowed in the cave, except for a small amount of water in a very secure container. There are no restrooms inside the cave and the eco-system is fragile. For this reason, we cannot make any exceptions. There will be time for snacks after our cave time.

IS THERE ALSO A RETREAT?
Yes, there is a women's retreat that spans the full weekend. The women's cave and camping retreat ends at noon on Sunday. There is a break between the retreat and this event. The retreat includes access to Sunday afternoon's cave tour and drum circle. If you're interested in learning more about the retreat, you can read more HERE.
