I am clearing a space

here, where the trees stand back.

I am making a circle so open

the moon will fall in love

and stroke these grasses with her silver.

Preparation is Part of the Journey

Preparation is a very important part of this process. It involves readying your mind, body and spirit for the experience and preparing your support system for what you may need before, during, or after your journey. We put protections in place to minimize a "bad" trip and we notice fear or anxiety that need some attention before proceeding. Preparation Sessions address Safety, Set and Setting, Logistics, Expectations, Preparatory Rituals and Integration.

Set & Setting

Our mindset (set) and journey space (setting) are crucial elements, however we need to think beyond the day of the journey. We want to pay attention to what we are consuming the days and weeks before our medicine journey, from social media and certain types of energy to actual food or drinks. We also need to proactively create a safe, nourishing and interruption free environment for the experience itself.

Preparation Rituals

In some traditions, preparation may span for days, weeks, months or even a year before the immersive experience. As a matter of fact, we believe that the journey starts as soon as you commit to it, thus, it's wise to be intentional and attentive during the weeks that precede your journey. You may want to track your dreams, make time for journaling or even engage in special rituals such as a mindfulness practice, traditional dieta or herbal protocol. We can offer ideas for enhancing and deepening the preparation phase.

Integration Planning

Integration is the process of holding the vision and returning to everyday life with the insights, bold questions or changes that your journey brings. Not only can this be challenging and overwhelming, but it can be hard for those around us to understand what we are going through. Preparing for integration in advance ensures that we have both support and time dedicated to this process. Integration can include journaling, nature time, counseling, integration groups and many other practices. We'll make a plan together!
